Minnesota World's Fair Site Launch:

Is it too early to be talking about 2022? Well, it’s closer than you think. Bids for Expo 2022 (or 2023) will likely start in the coming years.

If successful, it will be the first world’s fair in the United States in 38 years and the first one in North America in 36 years.

At the Expo 2015 2nd International Participants Meeting earlier this month, they started the three days of meetings with a ceremony in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II (built from 1865 to 1877) in the Piazza del Duomo area in Milan.

After the performance, they led us in a procession to our first day of meetings at the University of Milan. As we progressed along the way, new banners (representing the participating nations thus far) were unveiled.

To open the 2012 International Participants Meeting, Milan’s Expo 2015 authorities arranged to have flag wavers perform at the Piazza del Duomo. This panoramic photo shows a rehearsal earlier in the morning. The flags represent countries (and organizations) that have already signed on to participate in the 6-month world’s fair.

I had the opportunity to tour Milan’s Expo 2015 site under construction today. They’re still clearing the land of previous infrastructure and building the canal that will ring the site.
